Dr. Rajnarayan Tiwari is a MBBS graduate from IGGMC Nagpur and a Community Medicine post graduate from GMC Nagpur. He got his PhD in Life Sciences from Gujarat University in 2013. In addition he is also having various allied degrees such as MA in Economics, Sociology and Public Administration from Nagpur University and Honorary AFIH from Government of Gujarat.
He worked for a short stint of 3½ years at JNMC, Sawangi, Wardha and IGGMC, Nagpur as Lecturer in Community Medicine and for 15 years at the National Institute of Occupational Health, Ahmedabad, an ICMR institute, and reached upto Scientist E and headed the Respiratory Medicine Division. Before joining National Institute for Research in Environmental Health, Bhopal he was Director, National Institute of Miners’ Health, Nagpur, an autonomous body of Ministry of Mines, Government of India.
He has 100 plus publications mainly in the field of occupational and public health in national and international journals. He has guided 42 AFIH students and 15 MPH EOH students for their dissertation/thesis work. He is also the Editor of a book on “Environmental and Occupational Exposures: Reproductive Impairment” and reviewer to many national and international peer-reviewed journals.
He is visiting faculty for Occupational Health to many organizations like Manipal University, PHFI, DISH- Govt. of Gujarat and Institute of Science and Technology for Advanced Research, Anand.
He has handled about 20 projects sponsored by national and international agencies. A recipient of WHO Fellowship, Fellowship award of IAPSM and IPHA, he was a nominee member of the task force on silicosis and asbestosis of Government of India.
